The Residence of Milutin Georgijević was built in 1839 and belonged to the Prince of Lepenica, Milutin Georgijević - Žabarac (Serbian Knez Milutin Gregorijević - Žabarac). Constructed from solid materials, it features numerous decorative details and ornaments. This residence is one of the finest examples of traditional Serbian architecture from the first half of the 19th century. The front side is dominated by a spacious porch supported by profiled oak columns with cushion-like capitals. The porch railing is made of a series of vertically arranged wooden planks. The house has double-leaf windows with characteristic wooden latticework known as “toplije”. In the addition to the entrance, the house has opposite-facing exit doors adorned with geometric ornamentation. The roof is multi-pitched with a gentle slope and is covered with curved ceramic tiles (ceramida). The eaves are richly decorated with geometric patterns.
The building has a rectangular base with eight rooms, the central one being the ‘kuća’ (house) with an open hearth. The floor in this room is made of compacted earth while the celeing is crafted from wooden planks (sasovac). The floors in the other rooms are wooden. The doors throughout the house are decorated with geometric motifs. Notable interior details include built-in stoves, ceilings decorated in a distonctive ‘herringbone’ pattern, and clay jugs embedded in the walls of one room, which are believed to have been used for hiding money.
