The remains of the fortification at the archaeological site of the Medieval Town of Čestin are located on a hill above the Vranička River in Čestin. The settlement existed during both the Roman and medieval periods. According to Felix Kanic, these ruins are those of the Serbian town that was conquered by the Hungarian king Sigismund after the Battle of Kosovo, and it was built on the remains of an ancient settlement.
At the site, there is a high concentration of stone used in the construction of the fortifications, along with fragmented Roman and medieval bricks and ceramics, as well as fragments of marble slabs. The configuration of the terrain allows the outline of part of the fortification to be traced. This fortification, due to its exceptional strategic position, held great significance throughout history, especially during the medieval period, as evidenced by the attention given to events related to this town in historical sources.
