JOINING OF THE CITY OF KRAGUJEVAC TO THE INTERNATIONAL ONLINE CULTURAL HERITAGE PLATFORM
In May 2021, at the invitation of the city of Novi Sad, the city of Kragujevac joined the “Orange” project: Creativity, Innovation & Technology project, funded by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union. Currently, 85 patterns from 17 countries around the world are involved (Spain, France, Italy, Finland, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, Greece, Turkey, Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Ecuador, Argentina and Uruguay), led by the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
The O-City platform is an online digital platform designed to promote and valorize cultural heritage. It represents a virtual world where the cultural and natural heritage of cities around the world is presented through multimedia elements. In addition to promotion, the platform also serves as an inspiration for artists and cultural workers in the creative industries to create multimedia content, as one of the objectives of the O-City project is to encourage cultural and creative industries as key contributors to the economy of the future.
The Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute Kragujevac has been delegated to magane the content from Kragujevac posted on the O-City platform, being responsible for preserving and presenting the immovable cultural heritage of Šumadija and Pomoravlje. The first cultural monument from Kragujevac featured on the platform is the Šumadija October Memorial Park, a cultural heritage site of exceptional importance and a cultural institution dedicated to preserving the memory of the tragic events that befell the citizens of Kragujevac in October 1941.
