The Veličković House in Maskar is a bondručara with a dormer – a type of house that predominantly spans the regions of all three Moravas, the Danube Basin, and Eastern Serbia from the late Turkish rule era, as well as the first decades after liberation, when Western influences began to emerge. It was built in the first half of the nineteenth century, constructed on a foundation of broken stone, set ‘on a cell’. The house is a single-story building with a rectangular layout consisting of a ‘house’, a room, a guest room, and a dormer. The ‘house’ has two opposite doors ‘on the corners’, made of oak wood, with an earthen floor, and a ceiling made of profiled shingles. There was a chimney ‘on a small base’ in the partition wall leading to the room, but it is now bricked up, replaced with a small window. The chimney itself has been preserved. The floor in the room and guest room is also earthen, and the ceilings are made of profiled shingles. The doors to the room are adorned with geometric ornaments, while the doors to the guest room are also painted. The windows in both the room and guest room are equipped with finely crafted wooden shutters, and one window in each room additionally has fitted shutters. The roof is four-sided, covered with split oak shingles, and tiled with ceramic tiles. The eaves are notched with two cuts at the end. Beneath the slope, there is a basement.
THE VELIČKOVIĆ HOUSE IN MASKAR
The Veličković House has been declared a cultural monument by the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, number 633-8410/2003, dated December 18, 2003, published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia, number 128, on December 26, 2003.
The dormer is spacious, built from oak and larch wood, with forged nails and shutters that can be opened. It was most likely originally open and later closed off with shutters, transforming it into a room where people slept during the summer months. The doors to the dormer are decorated with geometric ornaments.
