The Old School in Ovšište represents one of the oldest schools in this part of Serbia. It was built in the mid-19th century and has all the characteristics of rural school buildings of that time. In addition to its architectural value, the old school holds significant cultural and historical importance, as it was the birthplace of the prominent Serbian writer and satirist Radoje Domanović in 1873, the son of a teacher (as attested by a marble memorial plaque). Over time, the building underwent significant changes both in its interior and exterior. It is a single-story building with a rectangular shape and a gable roof. It is built of stone and partially of brick. Its facades are completely devoid of ornamental decorations, which is typical for this type of building, but its charm and visual appeal are enhanced by the spacious entrance porch and certain wooden elements.
