The House at No. 9 Svetozara Markovića Street in Kragujevac, known as the house of Dr. Ilija Kolović, dates back to the first half of the 19th century and belongs to the group of buildings constructed in this street during the reign of Miloš. They represent material remnants of the architecture of old Kragujevac, which provide insight into appearance of the city during that period. This house is a typical example of Serbian bazaar architecture, with a porch and balcony on the front side, a multi-sloped roof covered with tiles, walls built in bondruk, and all other characteristics associated with this period. The most valuable details of the building are undoubtedly the richly ornamented columns on the porch and balcony, the celeings made of reeds, and the authentic arched doors in some of the rooms. The building possesses undeniable architectural and ethnographic value.
