The old part of Kragujevac also includes the House of Svetozar Marković at No. 23 Svetozara Markovića Street (now No. 21). Built in the first half of the 19th century, it represents one of the rare examples of architecture from that period that has been preserved to this day. It consists of a ground floor and a basement. The ground floor has five rooms and a porch, while the basement is a single room with an entrance from the porch. The foundation and basement walls are made of broken stone, bonded with lime mortar, while the house's walls are made of brick. From 1873 to 1875, the Kragujevac Social Printing House was located in this building. It was here that the famous worker and founder of the socialist movement in Serbia, Svetozar Marković, edited and printed the newspapers ’Javnost’ and ’Oslobođenje’, and wrote numerous provocative political and economic articles. The house now houses an ethnographic exhibition of the National Museum in Kragujevac, which is the building's current user, as well as part of an exhibition dedicated to Svetozar Marković. In the yard, there is a memorial bust of Svetozar Marković.
