JAGODINA

amidzin konak u kragujevcu, milosev venac, zavod za zastitu spomenika kulture kragujevac

In the center of Jagodina, there is a square with a monument dedicated to soldiers who fell in the Balkan Wars and World War I. The square was created between 1921 and 1931 as an urban element of city development, heavily influenced by European park and monument architecture. It formed a transitional urban shape from the city center towards the railway station, connected by an avenue for two-way pedestrian traffic. The square is oriented in a northeast-southwest direction, with an elongated and symmetrical shape, consisting of three parts. Between two flowerbeds with a fence and semi-circular shapes at the ends, there is a bronze monument placed on an octagonal pedestal. The lower part of the pedestal is made of marble, while the upper part is made of concrete. At the top of the pedestal, there is a soldier in a standing position, holding a rifle in his right hand, cast in bronze. On the lower part of the pedestal, two human figures made of white marble are placed: one is a mother nursing her child, and the other is a figure of a wounded soldier in chains.
