amidzin konak u kragujevcu, milosev venac, zavod za zastitu spomenika kulture kragujevac

In the Village of Ramaća, about ten kilometers from Stragari, there is a church dedicated to Saints Constantine and Helen. The church dates back to the end of the 14th century.

According to a 19th-century census, it was found that this church is more commonly known as Kumanca and is mentioned in the ‘Kruševac Chronicle’ from the 15th century. The church is also mentioned in the writings of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, when the Turks, during their campaign in the Balkans, visited this place.

Sima Milosavljević Paštirmac undertook a major restoration of the church in 1836, and it retains its appearance from that period. It has the shape of a compact inscribed cross, with semi-circular vaulted niches and a dome. The slender tambour, octagonally designed on the outside, is semi-circular on the inside and forms the central architectural feature of the building. The two side niches, the proscomidia and diaconicon, are designed in different ways: the proscomidia is semi-circular, while the diaconicon is square. The central altar apse is semi-circular, and the roof is covered with beaver tail tiles. A narthex is built on the western side, with the lower parts made of rubble stone and the upper parts of a complex wooden bondruk construction.

SAINT NICHOLAS CHURCH IN RAMAĆA

Saint Nicholas Church in Ramaća was declared a cultural monument by the Resolution of the Institute for the Protection and Scientific Study of Cultural Monuments of the People's Republic of Serbia No. 699/55, dated June 11, 1955, and was categorized as a cultural heritage of great importance for the Republic of Serbia on April 7, 1979, in the ‘Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia’, No. 14/79.

The frescoes are most likely the work of Macedonian masters who, fleeing from the Turks, came to Serbia in the 14th century. The frescoes have been preserved on the walls, vaults, and dome. Their quality is uneven, suggesting that the entire fresco cycle was painted by several artists of varying education and talent.
