‘French-Serbian Relations, The Roots of Balkan Industrialization’

The Multimedia Presentation ‘French-Serbian Relations, The Roots of Balkan Industrialization’ aims to showcase the most valuable industrial and cultural-historical heritage of Serbia, while also highlighting the enormous significance and influence of France and its talented experts on the overall industrialization of this part of Europe.

Numerous aspects of Serbia's modernization in the 19th and 20th centuries will be presented through the most valuable heritage of its memorial fund, with the intent to emphasize the inseparable connection between Serbia and France through a heritage-based perspective.

The establishment of the first military-industrial plants, the development of organized mining, and the construction of railway infrastructure most effectively demonstrate the extent of the influence on shaping a strong Francophile sentiment among Serbs during this period.

The primary concept is to promote invaluable architectural heritage as a universal value of humanity and to highlight the aforementioned relations between these nations in the past, while placing it within the framework of today’s European values.

Rich archival materials, technical and photographic documentation, as well as other artifacts, will be presented in both digital and analog formats, along with promotional materials and a panel discussion about the exhibition.

One of the main aspects will also be to highlight the future of remaining architectural structures through a strategy of sustainability and appropriate repurposing.
